More information
Human World is a portable inverted zoo. In this performance by the artist Johan Lundin fictional animals running an inverted zoo perform feeding of the humans every 15 minutes. In the exhibition, people can enjoy themselves by listening to holiday radio and there are also various pleasant activities arranged by the imaginary travel agency Dream Trip Travels. Comparison and contrast between fictitious companies and life in captivity raises thoughts about animal drives, fantasies, disguises and pleasure and how these concepts are related to each other.
Johan Lundin was born in Lund and is educated at Konstfack. The performativity and public interactivity can be understood by relating to the concept of dance as entering a role, assuming a mission or a character. The artist believes that places can always be understood through the character who acts in a place, lives, works or dances there. Through the movement of the body, we can reinforce a place, let it become something else or make it disappear.
Drinks and food distributed by the animals are always free.
If you want to support our activities, it is fine to make a contribution to the zoo and the human activities by swishing to Stories Works: 123 151 12 52. Mark the payment PRESERVE HUMAN WORLD. You can also buy souvenirs in the park's souvenir shop. Thank you for your contribution!
We always ask if it is okay for you to be filmed if there is a possibility that you could end up in the picture. If you do not want to be filmed - contact the zoo staff! The video can be used in future projects and exhibitions or published online.
The animals perform human feeding every 15 minutes, weather permitting. You can order coffee, tea, kombucha and popcorn from our Zoo Café. Zoo Catering can also be booked in advance. For price list and more information contact: zoocatering@galleryextra.com
Come and go as you please during the zoo's opening hours.
All ages are welcome!
You can behave as you would behave as a human in a regular situation. The fictive animals are friendly, but they will observe you, feed you and talk about you. They are interested in humans. Usually the travel guides will inform you of what activities are happening. Your are welcome to take part in the activities or just sit and observe. You don't have to be nervous, most humans are not used to be at an inverted zoo so there is no right or wrong way to behave. We hope you will have a great time!
